Difference between TEA Party and Teabagging

In their feeble efforts to minimize the growing number of TEA parties around the country, liberals have been trying hard to poke fun at the idea of tea parties while using the expression 'teabagging.' For our liberal friends, here's the difference between a TEA Party and Teabagging:

TEA Party: Acronym for Taxed Enough Already! Growing Form of Tax Protest made popular in 2009 when Obama announces his brilliant plan for economic stimulus includes even more taxes on those who already pay them.

Teabagging: What Barney Frank does in the privacy of his Georgetown townhouse at night. Only people like Barney Frank and Rachel Maddow knew what teabagging actually meant before all the media coverage on TEA parties.

Any Questions?

Latest Pictures from Hurricane Katrina

The aftermath continues to look worse for the people in the Gulf States, especially those hardest hit in New Orleans and the surrounding area. A current slideshow of pictures on the destruction. You might consider making a contribution to the American Red Cross for the staggering number of victims in this disaster -- we just did and will try to send more again shortly.

Tunisair plane lands in sea off Sicily- officials

My comments below (then you'll know why I found this article interesting enough to post...)

Aug. 6, 2005

ROME (Reuters) - A Tunisair aircraft with 35 passengers on board made an emergency landing in the sea off Sicily on Saturday, Italian emergency services said.

Two passengers were seen on the wings of the plane, an ATR 42, after it had landed on the water, police and fire brigade officials said. The officials added that a rescue attempt was getting under way.

The charter plane was flying from Bari, Italy, to Djerba, Tunisia, police said.

ATR aircraft are made by Avions de Transport Regional, based in France, and can carry up to 50 passengers.

--------------------------------------

I still remember taking a TunisAir flight in the late 60's with my friend, Matt, as part of our trip across Europe and North Africa. Matt and I were still woozy from getting several last-minute immunization shots in Marseilles literally hours before boarding our flight. It was a crowded little plane, filled mostly with Tunisian laborers on a Friday afternoon on their way home to their families for the weekend. Early on in the flight, the "flight attendant" handed out customs and immigration paperwork to all the passengers. Matt and I quickly filled out our forms. Suddenly it seemed as though half the passengers on the plane instantly realized that we could read and write so we each ended up with a small pile of passports and forms to fill out. (After filling out several forms, we came to the amusing realization that if we were to jump up and yell, "Mohammed!" over half the plane would turn around in their seats.) Anyway, I digress. Back to the flight...

The flight was pretty uneventful until we got across the Mediterranean and prepared for landing in Tunis. The plane dropped out of the sky quickly as the airport came up in view. As we flew in over the water, the pilot banked quickly to turn the plane for landing. Matt and I looked out our window and freaked out as we saw the tip of the wing practically skimming the surface of the water! I swear we left permanent imprints on the armrests! (And stains on the seats!) The only thing we could think was that TunisAir must have hired every Yahoo Vietnam vet pilot they could get their hands on for cheap and then bought the oldest planes they could find to start their airline. Our knees were still shaking as we stepped off that plane on to the tarmac minutes later, with new appreciation of why so many North African planes went down in the desert and the sea every year...

National Sex Offender Public Resgistry

It's about time! The government finally put up a Sex Offender Public Registry and so far, 22 state have opted to join. I see that Washington State isn't on it yet and I plan on writing my Congressmen and Senators to make sure we get on the list. Is it me or simply the heavy media coverage? Seems like the number of sex offenders walking around freely has gone sky high in recent decades. I'm convinced that there's little we can do about and for these people and keeping them locked up somewhere is probably the safest thing for them and for society. Especially our children.

What Does Valerie Plame Look Like?

Her picture has been posted all over the place and no one has ever confirmed that she was undercover when Wilson wrote his article for the New York Times. So what's the big deal?

Lawyers, others question radio TIVO-like devices - Yahoo! News

Lawyers, others question radio TIVO-like devices

I had personally pondered developing PC-based audio recorders years ago; just another project that got put on a shelf.

My own comments posted to the Yahoo! Board in response to this lame waste of time and energy:

So what else is new? People have been recording movies on TV for years since VCRs first came along. And I still remember the fuss about how it was going to erode the market for movies and shows to the point of collapsing the marketplace. Or so the damn lawyers said. Instead, we're now seeing an incredible boom in the sale of DVDs (both sales AND rentals) of movies and -- God forbid! -- entire season collections of TV shows (who would have guessed?)! $79.95 for one season of Seinfeld?!!

To all you entertainment lawyers out there kicking up a fuss so you b*stards can carve out another ounce (or pound) of flesh: F*CK OFF! Leave the marketplace alone and it'll pretty much take care of itself. Radio is already drastically changing with the incredible number of podcasts hitting the Internet every single day. Broadcasters need to be more worried about how to produce better content that people will actually listen to rather than trying to protect the poor excuse for miserable content that they've been force-feeding all of us for years. Get over it. And take your damn lawyers with you!

From the Oregon Daily Emerald -- University of Oregon News & Sports: 10 Reasons Not to Kill Bush. Jennifer McBride is a surprisingly level-headed student from Oregon (of all places!) writing about the current discourse in American society today. Well worth the read.
